Privacy Policy
Effective May 7, 2026.
The short version
TalkScore is designed to keep your conversations on your phone. Your audio is sent once, briefly, to our analyzer to produce the score and rubric, then deleted. The text result and the optional coach voice live only on your device. We don't sync to a TalkScore account, train models on your speech, sell your data, or use ad SDKs. There is no account to create.
What we record
The app captures audio only while you have tapped the record button and the in-app timer is running. Recordings are stored as temporary .m4a files inside the app's private storage on your device. Recording stops when you tap Done, when you leave the screen, or when you reach the thirty-minute cap, whichever comes first.
How recordings are used
When you tap Done, your recording is sent over a TLS connection to our analysis provider, currently Xiaomi Mimo, for one-time scoring. The audio is processed to produce a numeric score, a one-sentence vibe, a talk ratio, and six rubric grades. Our agreement with the provider prohibits training their model on your audio. After a session is returned, the original audio file is deleted from your device automatically.
What stays on your phone
The analysis text, including score, mode, vibe, talk ratio, and the six rubric metrics, is saved to a local SQLite database in the app's private storage. An optional coach voiceover (a short text-to-speech clip) is cached as bytes alongside the session so you don't have to re-fetch it. The app keeps your most recent hundred sessions; older sessions silently rotate out. Nothing is synced anywhere, and there is no TalkScore account.
What we don't collect
- We don't track your location.
- We don't access your contacts, calendar, photos, or files.
- We don't show third-party advertising.
- We don't sell, rent, or share your data with anyone besides the analysis and TTS providers strictly as needed to perform the requested scoring or playback.
- We don't use behavioural analytics SDKs that fingerprint you across apps.
Permissions we ask for
- Microphone is required to record. It is granted by you and denied by default.
- Internet is required to send recordings for analysis and to fetch the optional coach voiceover.
Subscription & billing data
Subscriptions are sold and managed by Google Play. We receive an obfuscated entitlement token from Google so the app knows you're on an active plan; we never receive your card number, billing address, or other payment details.
Children
TalkScore is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has installed the app, you can clear all data by uninstalling.
Your rights
Because nothing is uploaded to a TalkScore account, you can delete every byte we hold simply by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in Android settings. If you'd like a written confirmation, email talkscoreapp@gmail.com and we'll reply within seven days.
Deleting your data
You can delete your TalkScore data at any time in the app from Settings → Delete my data.
This deletes locally stored sessions, analysis results, cached coach audio, temporary recordings, and app preferences from your device.
If you have an active subscription, deleting app data does not cancel your Google Play subscription and does not reset your current usage allowance. You can cancel billing separately through Google Play subscription settings.
TalkScore does not store your recordings or analysis results on TalkScore servers. Your sessions live on your device, and the in-app delete option removes them from there.
Changes
If we change anything material, the effective date above will move and the in-app About screen will note the change. We won't quietly broaden what we collect.
